-- Pond Hockey Update --

We know many of you are confused and frustrated with the turn of events over the past couple of days due to the unforeseen weather and unseasonably warm temperatures, trust us when we say, no one is more upset than we are in our 7th year of the Championships.

Below, you will find a few photos taken this past Saturday at Deerhurst which resulted in a snow clearing machine falling through the ice.

We have been working on finding a resolution that works for all teams and participants. We have been in discussions internally and with Deerhurst since Saturday afternoon and also have been reviewing all emails with suggestions from teams, and speaking directly with many team captains. It’s a difficult process to work through but we feel the following is our best solution at this point to maintain the quality and safety of the event for our many supportive teams over the past 7 years.

As a result of the conditions for this weekend along with close to 85% of the registrants voicing their displeasure in replacing the pond hockey tournament with a ball hockey tournament we have decided to Postpone the Open Championships weekend to January 2013.

What does this mean and what will J-Core do for the teams?
1 – All entry fees paid this year will be carried over to the 2013 Championships
2 – All players will receive free admittance into the Saturday evening pond party including a buffet dinner

What does this mean for rooms already pre-paid to Deerhurst for this weekend?
1 – Deerhurst will be waiving their standard cancellation policy and changing your current reservation to next year’s event dates of January 25 – 27, 2013, rolling over one-night’s non-refundable deposit to secure and guarantee next year’s reservation. The refund for the balance of your reservation has already been processed.

You will receive a statement confirming your teams paid registration into the event along with confirmation for your deposit on Deerhurst room reservations (for those who paid and reserved a room for this event in 2012). Please bare with us as we work through all the paper work on our end and we will be in touch with all the captains within the next 72 hours to confirm the above details.
